Barbara has been involved in the World Affairs Council system, serving for the last 10 years as the Executive Director of the
Christie Roberts
Program Director
Christie has a master's degree in international studies from the University of Denver and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Brandeis University. After completing her master's, she spent 10 months in Amman, Jordan, on a long-term USAID-funded graduate fellowship. She has worked with a number of nonprofits and member-driven associations in addition to her ten years of experience in the restaurant and retail industries. Most recently, Christie has developed proposals and provided research and administrative support at a consulting firm specializing in infrastructure projects in francophone Africa and created a knowledge management system at Public Education Network (PEN). She speaks French, Spanish and introductory Arabic.
Laura Reidy
Education Director
Laura is a new graduate of American University, with a degree in political science. She began interning with the WACA in September of 2007, following a summer internship at the WAC of Connecticut in Hartford. Her work experience also includes political campaigning and work in London with the Co-operative Party. She also has extensive volunteer experience with a variety of nonprofits and student organizations.
David Koontz
Finance Director
David Koontz holds an MS in International Business Management from The University of Surrey in Guildford, England and a BBA in International Business with a concentration in Finance from James Madison University. During his undergraduate studies, David lived and studied in Salamanca, Spain. David Koontz currently resides in Falls Church, VA.
